Make your shiatsu sessions have a long lasting effect

My personal experience of receiving just ONE shiatsu session by an amateur practitioner, completely changed my life, for ever.

Why can’t we as professionals have that effect in every session?

Now as a Shiatsu practitioner that travels regularly, I don’t have the chance to see my clients every week, so I trained myself to give each session as if it was the only session I would ever give a person in their lifetime. The results immediately paid off!

I inspired myself on the Issha zetsu mei expression I learned in my shiatsu training. The saying comes from Zen archery and it means: one arrow, one shot. There is no chance for a second try, so treat every meeting as the one and only opportunity. When I have this attitude, I see that the results are deeper and have very long-standing effects.

[A similar expression from the tea ceremony is Ichi-go Ichi-e: an old Japanese proverb that means one opportunity, one encounter. It can also be interpreted as for this time only, never again, and once in a lifetime.]

If we have this attitude when treating, we can see that the results are more profound and the effects of the treatment are long-lasting.

This approach offers several advantageous aspects. On the one hand, it sharpens our eye for diagnosis and setting priorities in the treatment plan. Related to this is the courage to address the problems directly in order to get to the point quickly. Through this very binding approach, we also learn to trust and rely on our intuition. Furthermore, we want to learn to appreciate our abilities better and detach ourselves from the results. We also want to awaken in our clients the feeling that “everything is possible”. All of this contributes to making our Shiatsu sessions much more effective.
